GDLOFT designed this catalog for A Complex Weave: Women and Identity in Contemporary Art, a traveling exhibition that originated at Rutgers-Camden. The catalog reflects the intricacy of the exhibition’s featured work while avoiding the use of expected visuals to represent women and art. On the book’s cover, subtly-layered grids present written information about the exhibit and its featured artists. Within the book, the grid motif continues in a simpler manner, drawing attention to the artists’ work and clearly presenting information about the work. In a further reflection of the exhibition’s central concept of weaving, the title A Complex Weave appears in its entirety only when two of the books are placed side by side or when the book’s folded cover is opened fully.
