1734-1735: A Season in the Life of J.S. Bach Program

Designed for a performance and lecture series recreating a pivotal year in Johann S. Bach’s career, this program for Choral Arts Philadelphia aims to convey another key aspect of his being: Bach the mathematician. Through research about the mathematical devices in his cantatas, GDLOFT found a correlation between his compositions and the Fibonacci Sequence, and visualized this numeric relationship as the basis to design the program. From the layout grid to image size, color scheme to text size, GDLOFT used the number Phi (the ratio between any two numbers in the Sequence) to make all of the primary visual decisions.
